<![CDATA[Chris Ingram sealed the ERC Junior U27 Championship title at the weekend following a breath-taking performance at Rally Liepāja. The British driver had established a lead with just three stages remaining and successfully maintained his advantage to avenge the heartache of last year – where he narrowly missed out on ERC Junior glory.
There was to be no repeat this time, however, with the Mancunian also reclaiming the ERC3 title which he won in 2016.
The result means that Chris will step up to the FIA ERC Junior U28 Championships next season and get his first taste of life behind the wheel of an R5 car.
Reflecting on his achievement, the 23-year-old said: “My first ERC round was here in Latvia four years ago and I’ve been trying to win this title ever since.
“I’ve been working towards this moment pretty much every day for the last four years. I’ve been so dedicated and everything has paid off now.”
Chris was also quick to cite the importance of winning the €100,000 prize money which will play a pivotal role in facilitating his career development.
He said: “I now have the best cash prize in rallying that will help me progress and as soon as I get home I’m going to be speaking to people to try and do the whole European championship next year.”
Chris’ dominant showing in Latvia also culminated in him being awarded the coveted Colin McRae ERC Flat Out Trophy – the third of his career so far!
As his sponsors for a second successive campaign, Andrews Heat for Hire are immensely proud of Chris and his achievements to date and congratulate him on what has been a brilliant weekend.
We are excited to be launching a competition to celebrate his recent triumphs, giving entrants the opportunity to win a fantastic Wales Rally GB package. Details to follow shortly!]]>
