With luggage labels attached as identification, three siblings sit huddled together waiting to leave London and embark on a life away from the threat of German bombs. Now, almost 70 years since the poignant image was taken, it appears in a set of stamps paying tribute to the homeland heroes of the Second World War. The eldest of the Dawson children was eight-year-old Barbara, who is seen on the stamp putting her arms around brother John, seven, and six-year-old Rosemary.
Barbara, now Mrs Barbara Southard, worked at Andrews Sykes Group for over 20 years! Barbara played varied roles from working in the wages department to reception but above all Barbara was a much loved figure in the company, often regarded as the company grandmother. We all continue to wish Barbara the best of health and happiness.]]>
